  1. WinLab V2.0 by G. Desoli Ph.D. Engineering S.R.L.

  4. The first version on WinLab was a utility to display and converts various image formats. Up to now WinLab is 
  5. migrating versus a powerful tool to do image editing processing and navigation.
  6. WinLab capabilities are:

  8. Reading and writing many image formats
  9. Advanced image processing capabilities (resizing, rotating, filtering, enhancement, color correction, equalization 
  10. etc.)
  11. Batch processing (reading and writing)
  12. DDE and OLE management
  13. Image database navigation (trough the use of folders)
  14. Link with a relational database to maintain large amounts of images
  15.

  17. This demo version supports only reading and writing unmodified images but all functionalities are still usable in 
  18. order to evaluate the program.
  19. Finally WinLab fully supports language customization trough the use of a simple configuration file (only English 
  20. and Italian currently available, but you can easily add one yourself)

  49. Complete Selection area support and tools bar for handling it (each operation use selection if any)
  50. Complete clipboard support (BMP,DIB and TIFF format supported from clipboard)
  51. Support for printing (scale to fit, centering, number of copies)
  52. WinLab Folder management 
  53. Folders are special MDI child windows containing a scaled down version of images in order to fast previewing 
  54. them. You can double-click on an icon inside a folder to open the corresponding image.
  55. We are also adding support for attaching information records to images into folders. You will be able to build 
  56. folders from query applied to the image database and to navigate trough information.

  58. Installing and configuring
  59.  
  60. To install the program you have simply to decompress the demo distribution package into a directory
  61. and then add winlab.exe to your program manager (choose new/program)
  62. The first time WinLab starts, it fills some entries into win.ini to set default values
  63. To change the language find the entry
  64.

  67. in the win.ini file in the windows directory
  68.  
  69. Then change the entry

  71. Lang=eng

  73. to the new language into the WinLab international file (only it and eng included with this demo)

  99. WinLab is partially based (The TIFF reader) on the Sam Leffler 
  100. TIFF library and on the JPEG independent group library
  101. Fast JPEG preview (WinECJ.dll) demo version by Express Compression Laboratories

  108. Net support for Folders (automatically check for remote disk images and find it on a local net)
  109. Non Preemptive Multithreading (allow you to do something else when elaboration take place, even inside winlab itself)
